I am trying to learn more about drums that might be unique to Turks and Caicos. I have been told that these drums have some sort of a wooden stick attached to the drum that rattles along with the rhythm while the drummer plays. Where can I find a photo or video of this?

Have the harmonica, the saw, the drums and accordion as a part of the music programs in the schools and the popularity would grow.

My grand father played the harmonica and the accordion. These along with the rip saw are the stable of TCI music.

The goat skin drum and the cow bells add to the richness of the music from the slaves.

I would like to see Junkanoo included more as a part of the rich TCI heritage.

Oh Great.
I found this article after I'd posted in the Artist on Call article in Astrolabe.
In 1958 William Wilberforce Day celebrations I'm sure they had a clarionette as well as squeeze box in the orchestra.
My entrance fee to the festivities was 2 buckets of ice from the C&W cold room !
And It was a very enjoyable day indeed.
One of the many good memories of my year in GT.

Are there any rip saw recordings available ?
