By Anne-Marie Kelly The nautical definition of the word “leeward,” meaning the side to which the wind is blowing, captures only a fraction of the essence of Providenciales’ own Leeward Community. This gated, upscale, marina-based community on the far northeast tip of the bustling island has seen tremendous growth over the past few years. Future plans are ...

Then he called it “environmental and economic sense” and went on to state, “as this island chain (Turks & Caicos) edges up to a crossroads in its development destiny, it ...

  • No Bananas September 1, 2000
By Anthony Taylor “You should eat something,” said Juan. It was now 2:00 in the afternoon and I’d been feeling sea-sick all morning and not touched a thing. “You’re right. • Fabulous Falcons September 1, 2000
Story and Photos by Richard Ground FALCONS–the word conjures up romantic images of medieval knights engaged in the noble art of flaconry. By Mark Smallwood, Smallwood & Company Looking at the Winter 1999/2000 Times of the Islands magazine, three aspects of the issue leapt out at me. What's Inside The Latest Edition?

On the Cover

Tucked at the northeast corner of North Caicos is Greenwich Channel, formed at the northern tip of Bottle Creek by the convergence of Horsestable Beach and Bay Cay. By using a drone Master/Craftsman Photographer James Roy of Paradise Photography (www.myparadisephoto.com) was able to capture this dramatic abstract image. The shallow water and shifting sandbars and channels create surreal natural art in many hues of turquoise and green.
